Across a deep moss green field, the cream border behaves like a length of loose cord. At intervals it slips free of the edge, curling into a loop or ending in a frayed tail, before rejoining the line further along. Each motif has the quick, decisive hand of a painted flourish, the kind applied freehand to the rails and panels of provincial cabinets, here rendered in the dense, level surface of cut pile wool. Giancarlo Valle’s New York studio works across architecture, interiors and furniture, and the rug shows an architect’s sense of where ornament belongs. The drawing gathers at the perimeter and around the stepped corners, leaving the centre calm, so a bed, sofa or dining table can sit on the field without interrupting the composition. The green settles easily beside walnut, aged brass and undyed linen, and holds its own among antiques.

Each rug is handcrafted by skilled artisans who master ancestral techniques such as hand knotting, weaving, and tufting. Due to its handmade nature, there may be slight variations in size and colour, and the patterns may adjust proportionally when the rug is scaled to different sizes. Colours are subject to sample approval and colours shown may vary with lighting and environment.
