Small black sprigs, each with a handful of leaves or a single swelling bud, are scattered in loose rows across a rust red ground. No two are quite alike. The marks have the weight and spontaneity of a loaded brush, thickening where the stroke begins and tapering as it lifts, and the weavers have kept those irregularities rather than smoothing them away. Along the edges the stems turn on their sides to trace the outline of the rug and its stepped corners, forming a border that seems to grow instead of being ruled. Red and black is one of the oldest pairings in painted folk decoration, and it gives the piece a warmth that deepens in lamplight. It suits a library, dining room or study with dark timber and leather, and brings colour to a room without asking for anything else to match it.

Each rug is handcrafted by skilled artisans who master ancestral techniques such as hand knotting, weaving, and tufting. Due to its handmade nature, there may be slight variations in size and colour, and the patterns may adjust proportionally when the rug is scaled to different sizes. Colours are subject to sample approval and colours shown may vary with lighting and environment.
