Background
Marion Stora has loved sailing ever since she was a small child. Her other passion is art. She began studying architecture but quickly realized that interior architecture captivated her most. She continued her studies at Penninghen Paris, graduating in 2006. She then worked with renowned interior yacht designers in London for four exciting years before returning to Paris to collaborate with Remi Tessier on two iconic yacht projects. Keen to express herself in a broader capacity and scope, she launched her eponymous studio in 2011. Whether designing a contemporary villa in Portugal’s Cascais, warmed by textured finishes, Victorian homes in London, or an apartment in Northern Europe, all in shades of white to showcase the owner’s collection of paintings, each project is custom-made and guided by the client’s needs.
Signature Style
Defined by rigor and precision, yet warm, colorful, and lively in atmosphere, Marion’s distinctive style is immediately recognizable. Her taste for natural materials – hand-woven fabrics, raw hides, and wood – and her soft, harmonious lines channel a kindred affinity with Modernism. An admirer of Paavo Tynell, Gino Sarfatti, Angelo Lelli, and José Zanine Caldas, Marion Stora is also drawn to Pierre Chapo, a French master who sought to combine contemporary design with traditional skills. This approach guides her in designing timeless furniture crafted by the best artisans in the finest workshops.
Showstoppers
Marion Stora’s debut collection, Opening Acts, features 16 distinctive pieces crafted from noble materials and warm tones in collaboration with the finest craftspeople. Highlights include an organic dining table, blending Mauro Mori’s sculptural Albizia wood base with Pierre Bonnefille’s unique tabletop of mineral and metallic powders, and natural pigments. The beautiful seating options include chairs that mix brushed solid oak with natural leather upholstery, and a whimsical armchair with hand-gouged wooden armrests that extend into sculpted animal feet, crafted in Charles Jouffre’s Lyon workshop and upholstered in hand-woven fabric by Toyine Sellers.
