Raised between Darjeeling and Kathmandu, Lisa Mukhia Pretet grew up surrounded by the looms and knotting techniques of the Himalayas long before she co-founded Atelier Février with French designer Florian Pretet. Together they turn Florian’s hand-drawn illustrations, often first sketched in his Moleskine, into rugs hand-knotted stitch by stitch in Nepal, each one eco-friendly by nature and entirely customisable in size, shape and colour.

The Équilibre Magnified Rug Green joins Atelier Février’s rug library, presented here in a green colourway. Not unlike balancing rocks, Équilibre plays with three geometric shapes juxtaposed to create a point of balance; this Magnified rendition scales the composition up, giving the same precarious harmony a bolder, more graphic presence. Hand-knotted in Nepal from 60% silk, at 100 knots per square inch (155,000 knots per square metre), each fibre chosen for how it catches, or absorbs, the light. Florian Pretet’s drawings never leave the page unchanged: scaled up and hand-knotted by artisans in Nepal, the Équilibre Magnified Rug Green can be customised in size, shape and colourway, so no two commissions ever look quite the same.

Each rug is handcrafted by skilled artisans who master ancestral techniques such as hand knotting, weaving, and tufting. Due to its handmade nature, there may be slight variations in size and colour, and the patterns may adjust proportionally when the rug is scaled to different sizes. Colours are subject to sample approval and colours shown may vary with lighting and environment.
