Atelier Février was born from the shared passion of French designer Florian Pretet and Nepali entrepreneur Lisa Mukhia Pretet, partners in life as in craft. Florian, who once designed cashmere and silk for the workshops of Hermès, draws every pattern by hand before it is scaled up and hand-knotted in Nepal by a workforce of more than fifty artisans, using techniques passed down through generations and no machines or chemicals whatsoever.
The Nazar Rug Beige & Brown joins Atelier Février’s rug library, presented here in a beige and brown colourway. Turning a traditional eye-shaped amulet believed to protect against the evil eye into a contemporary rug, Nazar exemplifies Atelier Février’s signature blend of cultural heritage and modern design. Hand-knotted in Nepal from 60% Himalayan wool and 40% silk, at 125 knots per square inch (200,000 knots per square metre), the wool anchoring the pile while the silk catches the light along the pattern’s finer lines. Every Nazar Rug Beige & Brown is made to order over some twelve to sixteen weeks by a combined workforce of more than fifty artisans, and, true to Atelier Février’s spirit, can be resized, reshaped or recoloured entirely to your own specification.
