Raised between Darjeeling and Kathmandu, Lisa Mukhia Pretet grew up surrounded by the looms and knotting techniques of the Himalayas long before she co-founded Atelier Février with French designer Florian Pretet. Together they turn Florian’s hand-drawn illustrations, often first sketched in his Moleskine, into rugs hand-knotted stitch by stitch in Nepal, each one eco-friendly by nature and entirely customisable in size, shape and colour.
The Pluie Rug Green joins Atelier Février’s rug library, presented here in a green colourway. Rain, coupled with a beautiful play of light, makes one of the most mesmerising shows in nature: Pluie represents raindrops and the way light reflects off them to create a dazzling scatter of colour. Hand-knotted in Nepal from 60% Himalayan wool and 40% silk, at 125 knots per square inch (200,000 knots per square metre), the wool anchoring the pile while the silk catches the light along the pattern’s finer lines. As with every Atelier Février piece, no machines or chemicals ever touch the Pluie Rug Green: colours are approved by sample before weaving begins, and the rug can be scaled, reshaped or recoloured to fit your own room.
