An exceptional and rare bergère with its matching pouf, designed circa 1920 by Louis Süe and André Mare. The elegant silhouette, accentuated by gilded contours, directly references late-18th-century furniture reinterpreted in the 1920s, in the wake of Art Deco.
This piece carries history: it originally adorned the opulent living room of couturier Jean Patou. Süe and Mare, a celebrated duo of architects and decorators, were among the leading figures of their time. Among their many achievements, they designed and decorated an entire pavilion at the landmark 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes.
