Francesco Balzano is a Parisian architect-designer whose childhood between Venice, Rome and Florence left him with an instinctive feel for stone, light and proportion, an instinct that now drives the sculptural furniture produced under his own label, SATTIO Studio, marrying Scandinavian minimalism with Italian grandeur.
Compact and sculptural, the Murano gueridon distills the collection’s tribute to Venetian glassmaking into a single pedestal form, its opaque resin surface signed and numbered in colourway FB20/04 and worked to resemble glass sandblasted and smoothed by the lagoon. Balzano designed its rounded base to hold the room’s light the way a piece of sea glass holds the memory of the water that shaped it.
