Francesco Balzano designs the way an architect thinks: in volumes, thresholds and light. Named among AD France’s 100 Best Designers and winner of the Villa Medici Prize from the French Academy in Rome, the Paris-based designer draws on a childhood spent between Venice, Rome and Florence to give his furniture, produced through SATTIO Studio, the weight and calm of monuments rather than mere objects.

This Tempio console stands as one of the collection’s five monoliths, its Grand Antique marble body drawing on Balzano’s memory of Michelangelo’s Pietà in St. Peter’s Basilica, translated into a silent, almost votive object. Also available in white onyx, it belongs to a limited edition of twelve, each piece signed and numbered.
