Each Gounot & Jähnke fixture is conceived as a small machine for light: aluminium, brass and bronze are milled, hand-finished and articulated so that illumination becomes a considered, almost architectural gesture, work that has drawn collaborations with Joseph Dirand, Glenn Sestig and reissues of Pierre Paulin.
Extending the Marienbad family that Gounot and Jähnke built for Ozone, the Marienbad SW60 Vertical Spotlight elongates the original silhouette into a taller wall-mounted column, stretching the film-inspired vocabulary of corridors and vanishing points across a greater span of wall. The result is a more commanding architectural gesture, suited to double-height rooms or staircases where a single vertical accent can organize an entire volume of space.
The fixture keeps the aluminium cubic structure of the collection, offered in bronze, satin white or gun metal finish, so that the same engineered precision scales up without losing its clarity of line. Hand-assembled in the Ozone workshop, it proves the designers’ conviction that light, like architecture, gains presence through repetition and proportion rather than ornament.
First and foremost, Ozone is the story of a friendship. Etienne Gounot and Eric Jahnke were just 25 when they first met in an office where they both worked as industrial engineers. Six years later, they changed gear and quit their mapped-out careers to unleash their creativity. This decisive moment led to the creation of Ozone in 2000. Wonderfully Combining magic, technology and architecture, they are inspired by light. They specialise in lighting design, catering for architects, decorators and corporations. The Ozone collection stems from the work of recent years.
Manufactured in Paris, Ozone light fixtures are assembled in the workshop of rue Notre-Dame de Nazareth in the Marais. They combine the Parisian tradition of craftsmanship with the latest LED light technologies. Their clean lines create a timeless geometry that is sometimes classic, modernist or minimal. The assemblage details, metal finishes and lighting performance of the Ozone collection are of the highest level.
