Every Hamrei piece is realized by master artisans working in solid oak, hand-worked metal, and richly textured upholstery, each material chosen to heighten the tactile, sculptural quality of the design. The results are collectible objects that balance monumental presence with intimate comfort.
The Peanut Dining Chair by Hamrei is not just a seat at the table. It is an ode to organic form, its silhouette nodding to the soft, knobbly shape of a peanut shell, where hard and soft surfaces curve together in every direction, a hallmark of the designer’s playful yet rigorous approach to furniture-making.
Crafted from solid natural oiled oak cut and worked by hand to achieve its subtle, demanding curves, the chair cradles a cloud-like seat upholstered here in Rose Uniacke’s Woven Bottle fabric, woven from recycled plastic bottles in a soft shell hue. The oak is also available in a smoky fumed finish, and the chair can be dressed in the client’s own material upon request.
Born in The Potteries, Staffordshire, to an Anglo-Swiss father and Brazilian mother, Hamrei began to hone his eye for interiors and design between the British countryside and summers spent in the Mediterranean. Following his studies in Architecture he switched to interiors & furniture design through the formative guidance of Gisbert Pöppler in Berlin. Returning to his home country he continued to develop his sensibility for materials and colour during 3 years at Peter Mikic before going on to join French designer Pierre Yovanovitch. Whilst managing projects in the UK and US for the French firm, he continued to develop his own style until he set up his own interior & furniture design studio in the Summer of 2021.
