For Jérôme Bugara, furniture is a way of paying tribute to the artisans who make it. His studio has built a reputation for collections that place noble materials and meticulous craftsmanship above trend, every piece engineered with an engineer’s precision and dressed with a couturier’s patience, so that the technical structure underneath a sofa or chair disappears entirely into the softness of its final silhouette.
Curved into a continuous three-seater arc, the Butterfly Curve Sofa lets Bugara’s wing-like silhouette wrap around a room rather than simply face it, upholstered in ivory Karakorum fabric from Dedar or praline Vitus velvet from Fischbacher 1819 over a natural oak base. The gentle radius was engineered so the sofa could frame a bay window or a fireplace without a single hard angle interrupting the flow, keeping the metamorphosis theme of the Butterfly collection intact even as the shape bends. Every join along the curve was hand-fitted to keep the fluted oak legs perfectly aligned.
A graduate from the prestigious École Boulle, interior architect and designer Jérôme Bugara loves French savoir-faire above all else. A native of Lyon, he moved to Paris at a young age, fully immersing himself in the architectural richness of the City of Light to nurture and develop his art. He founded his own interior design agency in 2015, where he creates striking interiors for private clients while designing unique furniture collections in limited editions.
