Jérôme Bugara’s fascination with Paris’s layered architecture runs through everything his agency has produced. Exacting about material assembly and unashamedly nostalgic for the rigour of French decorative arts, he translates that rigour into limited-edition pieces built with French master craftsmen, work that often begins with a memory, a song or a place before slowly taking the shape of a chair or sofa without ever losing the emotion that started it.
The Little Baine Sofa condenses the same coastal duality into a more intimate scale, its navy Vitus velvet from Fischbacher 1819 or Dedar’s lascaux and Banquise fabrics wrapping a compact, deeply cushioned seat. Bugara designed the Baïne collection around the hidden currents of the Atlantic near Maygane’s southwest coast, and here that idea translates into a piece sized for a reading corner or a bedroom rather than a grand salon, without losing any of the enveloping comfort of its larger siblings. Its rounded arms curl inward like a wave folding back on itself.
