Studio Akademos takes its name from Akademos, the early-twentieth-century magazine of art and criticism founded by the aristocrat and poet Jacques d’Adelswärd-Fersen, and channels a fascination with Café Society — the glittering, decadent world of interwar Paris salons and 1970s glamour — into a collection handmade entirely by Italian craftsmen in Lombardy. Every piece is named after a real icon of that era, turning each object into a small biography rendered in walnut, lacquer, brass and cashmere.
Named after F. Scott Fitzgerald, chronicler of the Jazz Age’s glittering excess, the Scott 01 Sofa is handmade by Italian craftsmen in a deep lacquered American walnut structure, its edges finished in a rich purple-red lacquer. Upholstered in Loro Piana cashmere wool with contrast piping, it hides a discreet side cabinet with satin stainless steel handles and polished brass details, plus a numbered, personalised brass plate. The pairing of dark lacquer and luxurious cashmere is a direct nod to Café Society’s most lavish, candle-lit evenings.
