Studio Akademos takes its name from Akademos, the early-twentieth-century magazine of art and criticism founded by the aristocrat and poet Jacques d’Adelswärd-Fersen, and channels a fascination with Café Society — the glittering, decadent world of interwar Paris salons and 1970s glamour — into a collection handmade entirely by Italian craftsmen in Lombardy. Every piece is named after a real icon of that era, turning each object into a small biography rendered in walnut, lacquer, brass and cashmere.
The Elsa Liquor Cabinet honours Elsa Schiaparelli, the surrealist-minded couturière whose wit and daring shaped the aesthetic of an entire era of Parisian nightlife. Handmade in Lombardy, its deep-lacquered American walnut casing opens via a brass-trimmed push mechanism to reveal interiors lined in Loro Piana cashmere, poised on satin stainless steel feet. Each cabinet carries its own numbered, personalised brass plate, transforming a simple bar cabinet into a tribute to one woman’s fearless glamour.
