The Ardoise rug, designed by Pinton Studio Lab, carries forward the six-century weaving tradition of Pinton, the Aubusson and Felletin maison founded by Joseph Pinton whose family firm was later transformed by Jean Lurçat’s revival of Aubusson tapestry and now operates under Lucas Pinton with recognitions including the Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant label. Entirely hand-tufted in wool with a cut-and-loop pile, its beige and mineral tones suit a sober, chic interior, and because every rug is worked by artisans mastering ancestral hand-knotting, weaving and tufting techniques, slight variations in color and pattern are part of its handmade character rather than a flaw.
