Under the RAD Gallery Collection, each piece is produced in a strictly limited series, numbered, signed and delivered with a certificate of authenticity — collector’s objects in walnut, bronze, leather and shagreen that echo, in miniature, the discipline and material sensuality of his architectural work.
The Arja Wardrobe, limited to just four pieces within Reda Amalou’s RAD Gallery Collection, revives straw marquetry — a French decorative technique dating back centuries — applying its intricate, light-catching patterns to the doors of a genuinely functional piece of furniture, a gesture that reflects Amalou’s belief that craft and utility should never be separated.
Built with a solid walnut structure and a bronze base and frame, the wardrobe grounds its delicate straw-marquetry doors in materials of real weight and permanence. Opened, the cabinet reveals a warm walnut interior; closed, its doors shimmer subtly as light shifts across the woven straw, a small architectural event each time someone walks past.
Born in Paris, he studied in London at East London University and worked for twenty years on numerous hotel projects in Asia, Europe and the Middle East with a strong ecological tropism. His combination of minimalism, elegance and sobriety expressed in curves and noble materials, deep lacquer, bronze, leather, gives a strong sense of luxury to his collection.
