The Mai Floor Lamp by Sébastien Caporusso is not simply a piece of furniture. It is a small architecture in itself, born from the Belgian interior architect’s belief that every object should be built with the same rigor and poetry as a room. Named Designer of the Year at Belgium’s Biennale Interieur, Caporusso is known for pairing noble, tactile materials with eclectic, dreamlike silhouettes that feel both grounded and slightly otherworldly.
Part of a wider series built around the idea of the totem, the floor lamp pairs a travertine foot with a rod of brass and rope, on which a ceramic shade seems to float weightlessly, as if anchored only by the mast rising from its block of marble. The mix of stone, metal, cord and fired clay gives the piece the presence of a small sculpture as much as a light source.
