For Mmairo, the Carrara marble house that controls extraction through manufacture in-house, Brittain set out to make marble feel like an everyday material rather than a purely sculptural one, applying her study of weight and proportion to a lit form.
The Heron Pink Table Lamp reprises Bec Brittain’s elongated, bird-inspired silhouette for Mmairo in a softer register, trading the darker Heron editions for a palette drawn from pale stone rather than shadow. Brittain, who moved from architecture training at London’s Architectural Association into lighting design at Lindsey Adelman Studio before founding her own brand, designed Heron as a study of weight and proportion aimed at making marble feel like an everyday material rather than a rare one.
Crafted from Rosa Egiziano, Fior di Pesco Carnico and Bianco Michelangelo marble, with bespoke dimensions, finishes and colors available on request, this edition lets warm pink and softly veined grey stone diffuse the lamp’s inner light rather than the near-black tones used elsewhere in the collection. The result keeps Heron’s angular, bird-like form intact while giving it a gentler glow, one Brittain describes as seeing with the eyes of the soul through the intimate light of marble.
