An emblematic piece in Jean-Michel Frank’s vocabulary, the Aragon table owes its name, according to tradition, to its first patron, the poet Louis Aragon. Its design appears carved from a single block, as if shaped by a primitive gesture, set apart from the traditional codes of cabinetmaking. The oak, sandblasted, engraved, and carved, reveals a raw, expressive material. This almost archaic simplicity nonetheless embodies a radical modernity, one that naturally converses with the sculptural world of Alberto Giacometti.
