Nada Debs grew up in Kobe, Japan, the daughter of a Lebanese family in exile from Beirut’s civil war, and trained at RISD in the United States before returning to a homeland she had only imagined. That triangular journey – Japanese restraint, American design education, Arab craft memory – became the engine of what she calls Contemporary Arabesque: geometric marquetry, mother-of-pearl inlay and carved wood reimagined through a spare, almost Zen-like sensibility. Working from her Beirut studio with local artisans trained in century-old Damascene techniques, she treats every surface as a meeting point between two worlds that, in her life, were never actually separate.
Sharing its iconic elliptical silhouette with the Coffee Bean Table, the Wooden Bean Coffee Table stands on low tubular feet in stainless steel beneath a top in dark brown matte Macassar ebony, or in black, white or red lacquer. Its occasional beans nest inside the main form and can be lifted out and scattered wherever an extra surface is needed.

Nada Debs grew up up in Japan from a Lebanese family and graduated from the Rohde Island School of Design in the US. With such a cosmopolitan and prolific background, Nada Debs has the ability to distil culture and craftsmanship to create pieces with emotional resonance. Her style defined as “Contemporary Arabesque” blends her influences from her Lebanese family and her Japanese childhood as she magnifies oriental handicrafts with a hint of Japanese materials.
