Founded in Paris in 1978 by Andrée Putman, Ecart set out to give a second life to the great names of French Modernism, reissuing the furniture and lighting of Jean-Michel Frank, Pierre Chareau, Eileen Gray and Robert Mallet-Stevens with the same rigor and restraint that first defined the movement in the 1920s and 1930s.

The Damier Coffee Table carries forward Ecart’s founding conviction that Parisian modernism never truly ended — it simply waits to be reinterpreted. Its name, French for ‘checkerboard,’ describes the graphic oak marquetry top, a pattern that recalls the geometric floors of 1930s Parisian apartments Andrée Putman herself championed when she founded the house in 1978 to keep that era’s rigor alive.

Crafted in varnished oak marquetry with feet in tinted resin, the table balances warmth and precision: the wood’s natural grain plays against the crisp geometry of the checkerboard pattern, while the resin base grounds the piece with a quiet, sculptural weight. Bespoke woods are available on request, allowing each table to be tailored to its setting.
