Long before he built the Maison de Verre, his celebrated house of glass and steel, Pierre Chareau was already rethinking what furniture and lighting could do inside a room, and Boule Ceiling Lamp carries that same conviction. As an ensemblier rather than a mere decorator, he never designed objects in isolation, but as instruments meant to shape atmosphere, direct light and choreograph the way a space is actually lived in.

The Boule ceiling lamp suspends eight rectangular alabaster plates from a fine netting of steel threads, so that from a distance the fixture reads as a single luminous sphere even though it is built from flat, faceted panels. Hung from a black painted metal, square canopy, it is one of Chareau’s more sculptural lighting inventions, its alabaster available veined white or veined brown.
