Olivier Garcé and Clio Dimofski opened Garcé & Dimofski’s studio and gallery in a 19th-century Pombaline building in Lisbon. They bring a rigorous, architectural eye to furniture that never strays far from the earth it comes from — chestnut, walnut, pine and clay, shaped by hand with Portuguese craftsmen who have spent lifetimes mastering their materials.
Nomis pairs a coffee table in deep black-stained chestnut, shade F04, with an inset and feet in a brushed beige-red glazed ceramic that softens the table’s otherwise graphic silhouette. Because the ceramic elements are fired by hand, kiln shrinkage can shift their dimensions by as much as ten percent, and every piece carries its own slightly different colour and shape as a result.
