Ancrage Chair Wood

The son of a sculptor, Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance’s approach to design has never strayed far from the chisel and the block. Founder of the Paris studio Neonata, he builds a body of work that moves fluidly between furniture, sculpture and architecture for houses such as Hermès, Baccarat and Saint-Louis, now working from Lisbon chiefly in sculpted and assembled marble, producing pieces in small, tightly numbered editions that read as much as artworks as they do furniture.

Sculpted entirely in oak, the Ancrage chair brings the collection’s architectural, crossing-line geometry down to the scale of a single dining seat, its structure reading almost like a miniature version of the console or table nearby. Available in bespoke woods, dimensions and finishes, it is built to be used in multiples around a table, where the repeated intersecting silhouettes create a rhythmic, almost graphic effect when viewed in a row. The oak grain gives each chair a naturally distinct surface pattern.
