Daiku Bench L

Add to Wishlist

The Daiku Bench L is designed by Victoria Magniant, who works hand in hand with French ateliers to translate noble materials, wood, glass, brass, into pieces that read as much like sculpture as furniture. She draws on the pared-back forms of Isamu Noguchi and Barbara Hepworth, choosing slowness and craft over speed.

At its largest size, the Daiku Bench is pictured here in walnut, with tinted ash and oak as alternatives, its long seat still handworked with the same precise textures and assemblies as the smaller benches in the family. Solid wood construction means the piece will keep responding quietly to its environment for as long as it is used, expanding and settling with the seasons.

This creation is crafted from solid wood, a natural material that naturally expands, contracts and cracks with temperature and humidity changes. Variations in grain, colour, and texture are inherent and natural. These natural changes are a sign of authenticity, and part of what makes each piece unique.
