Victoria Magniant designed the Daiku Bench M from her Paris studio, where she pairs French cabinetmakers and glassblowers with an eye trained on sculptors like Noguchi and Hepworth. For Magniant, choosing a material is also a way of defending a culture, a skill and an ethic of craftsmanship.

The medium Daiku Bench, shown in varnished stained ash with walnut and oak also available, scales up the collection’s calligraphic language, its watercolour-like stain layered to stay rich in pigment while never obscuring the timber’s natural figure. Precise joinery and a minimal use of glue keep the bench true to Magniant’s insistence on durable, honestly made solid wood.

This creation is crafted from solid wood, a natural material that naturally expands, contracts and cracks with temperature and humidity changes. Variations in grain, colour, and texture are inherent and natural. These natural changes are a sign of authenticity, and part of what makes each piece unique.
