Giuseppe Scapinelli was an Italian-born architect who trained in Florence before emigrating to Sao Paulo, where he became one of Brazilian mid-century design’s most distinctive voices.

Among the most striking pieces in Scapinelli’s line, the GS4 Chair, designed in the 1950s in imbuia wood, unfolds in sinuous, almost dazzling curves that still read as strikingly futuristic today, a testament to the sculptural imagination the architect brought to Brazilian furniture design.
