Alfred Christensen and his brother Erik founded the furniture manufacturer Slagelse Møbelværk which went on to become one of the finest Danish manufacturers of the 20th century. Alfred was responsible for many of the company’s most successful designs and had a particular talent for upholstered furniture with a classical aesthetic. The high-point of his career was the much sought-after Model 185 sofa, released in 1952. This reissued version of the perfectly formed sofa, with its distinctive heart shaped back, has been named Tissø (tee-soh) Love Seat, named after the lake in West Zealand where Alfred and his son Guido would often go fishing.
