Founded by Karl Fournier and Olivier Marty in Marrakech and Paris, Studio KO has built private houses, museums, and hotels defined by clean lines, natural materials, and an acute sensitivity to light. Their first collaboration with Galerie Diurne, the Echo collection, translates that same architectural discipline into a series of hand-knotted rugs, each one drawing on the great figures of twentieth-century minimalist and conceptual art.
The Anni Rug, designed by Studio KO for Galerie Diurne as part of the Echo collection, takes its name in quiet homage to the great textile innovators of twentieth-century minimalist art whose grid-based compositions transformed weaving into a language of abstraction. Karl Fournier and Olivier Marty drew on this legacy to create a rug whose soft, blended graphics evoke both an aerial landscape and a slow optical vibration, a surface that rewards long, unhurried looking.
Hand-knotted from 80% wool and 20% silk using 200,000 Tibetan knots, the Anni Rug is woven by artisans mastering techniques passed down across generations. Because of its handmade nature, slight variations in size and colour occur from piece to piece, and its pattern adjusts proportionally when scaled to bespoke dimensions, ensuring that no two rugs read exactly alike.
The founders of Studio KO, Karl Fournier and Olivier Marty, met during their studies at the Beaux-Arts in Paris. In 2000, they created their architecture and interior design agency, which now employs some fifty employees. With offices in Paris, Marrakesh and London they seduce the world with their clean architectural lines and their respect for the surrounding environment, focusing on local and natural materials. The name Studio KO echoes the timeless aesthetics and defends an architecture that blends tradition with modernity, using clean lines and raw materials such as stone, wood or hammered iron, rejecting the smooth; favouring texture.
