Francesco Balzano is a Parisian architect-designer whose childhood between Venice, Rome and Florence left him with an instinctive feel for stone, light and proportion, an instinct that now drives the sculptural furniture produced under his own label, SATTIO Studio, marrying Scandinavian minimalism with Italian grandeur.
The Murano console reinterprets the console table as a fragment of a glassblower’s furnace, its opaque resin surface worked to the soft, sandblasted texture of glass polished smooth by the lagoon. Signed and numbered in colourway FB20/04, its low, elongated silhouette carries the cloudy, mineral density of Murano’s furnace floor rather than the transparency one expects from glass, grounding a room in quiet, lagoon-toned light.
