Olivier Garcé and Clio Dimofski opened Garcé & Dimofski’s studio and gallery in a 19th-century Pombaline building in Lisbon. They bring a rigorous, architectural eye to furniture that never strays far from the earth it comes from — chestnut, walnut, pine and clay, shaped by hand with Portuguese craftsmen who have spent lifetimes mastering their materials.
Lison’s suspended shelf pairs a solid walnut frame with a tabletop in burgundy straw marquetry, a technique of split, dyed rye straw applied strip by strip that catches the light differently depending on where you stand. An opening for cables can be added on request, and the wood and dimensions are made to order, so the shelf can be sized to disappear into a hallway or command a wall on its own.
