Since 1958, the Manufacture de Tapis de Bourgogne has worked from its ateliers in Moroges, at the heart of Burgundy, where hand-knotting and hand-tufting are practiced as living crafts rather than industrial processes. Recognised as an Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant, the manufacture has lent its rare know-how to designers from Andrée Putman to Philippe Starck, weaving each rug thread by thread with the patience of a discipline passed down through generations of artisans.
Designed by Anna Agapova for the Manufacture de Tapis de Bourgogne, the Sand Chords Rug is hand-tufted in wool and silk in a soft greige that recalls sand rippled by wind or water. Its name suggests a musical reading of the landscape, as though each line traced across the surface were a chord struck in sand, and the manufacture’s artisans render that idea in a fibre blend chosen precisely for the way silk catches light against the more matte, grounding wool.
