Oud Architecture is a Paris studio founded by Marie-Sarah Burckel and Josselin Berteloot, designing living spaces for private and professional clients in France and abroad. Their furniture collections extend the same architectural thinking into freestanding objects, each one produced in a strictly limited edition.
The Orion Incense Table draws its name from the hunter constellation, its inlaid mother-of-pearl details scattered across the walnut surface like stars against a night sky — a small piece of celestial mapping from Oud Architecture, produced in a limited edition of eight pieces plus one artist’s proof.
Crafted in walnut with marquetry work, the table is punctuated with inlaid mother of pearl and aluminium, materials chosen for the way they catch and scatter light rather than absorb it. Designed to hold incense, the table turns a small ritual act into a moment framed by genuine craft, its surface glinting faintly as smoke rises above it.
OUD is an architecture and design studio based in Paris, founded by Marie-Sarah Burckel and Josselin Berteloot. The name chosen by the duo is polysemous: OUD refers simultaneously to a type of wood, a perfume essence, and a musical instrument, thus expressing the idea that material genrates emotion. OUD designs and realises private and public living spaces. Like the architects of the 1950s who inspire them — Luis Barragan, Carlo Scarpa, and Charlotte Perriand — Marie-Sarah Burckel and Josselin Berteloot design interiors down to the custom furniture. OUD does not follow trends, exploring instead the dialogue between past and present. They create places and objects that exist outside of time, giving the impression of having always been there.
