The Zigi Pedestal by Philippe Hurel is a captivating creation reminiscent of a Rubik’s Cube emerging from within a tree trunk. This remarkable piece embodies the fusion of intricate craftsmanship and artistic passion. While it might exude the appearance of a solid, block-like structure, the Zigi is a result of meticulous dedication during its crafting process. Whether manifested in wood, serving as a stool, stele, table, or divan-end, or cast in bronze as a bookend or lamp, the Zigi unquestionably exemplifies the ingenious artistry of the Philippe Hurel studios. Whether finely sanded, naturally imbued with character, elegantly lacquered, or adorned with delicate traces of bronze dust (perhaps an homage to Ziggy Stardust himself!), each rendition of the Zigi, regardless of its dimensions or purpose, commands attention and asserts itself as a sculptural masterpiece rather than mere furniture. It stands as the epitome of perfection from every angle, a testament to the expertise of Philippe Hurel and his team, from inception to execution.
