Rather than a single studio, Uchronia operates as a constellation of artisans assembled by Julien Sebban around a shared taste for colour, texture and craft pushed to its limits. Marble stucco, enamelled lava stone and Japanese Raku ceramics are treated less as materials than as characters in a story, each piece bearing the small irregularities that only a handmade object can carry.
Designed for outdoor living, the Cookie Coffee Table is shaped from lava stone, a volcanic rock whose enamelled tabletop, here in a warm Sahara hue, meets legs left in raw, brushed lava stone. Its rounded, gourmet silhouette is no accident: Uchronia named it for the shape of a cookie, and its production in the South of France showcases lava stone’s near-infinite range of colour and pattern.
A multidisciplinary design collective rather than a traditional architecture firm, Uchronia takes its name from a reflection on fictional time and ephemerality. The studio creates modern “experiential spaces,” removing the barriers between technical expertise and creativity. It transforms spaces by offering a complete artistic service, ranging from architecture and spatial planning to design and visual identity.
