Uchronia is the Paris-based collective founded by Julien Sebban, its name borrowed from a term coined by the 19th-century philosopher Charles Renouvier to describe an imagined alternative history. True to that spirit, Uchronia builds pieces that feel like artifacts from a parallel world, working hand in hand with decorative painters, wood marquetry specialists and Raku masters to give familiar objects an entirely unfamiliar presence.
The Peanut Coffee Table shares its outdoor-ready lava stone construction with its Cookie sibling, but pairs an enamelled lava stone top with legs cast in concrete for a more architectural stance. Its refined, curving silhouette and vibrant hue recall the sweetness of the peanut it is named for, each piece made in the South of France and unique in its exact shading.
A multidisciplinary design collective rather than a traditional architecture firm, Uchronia takes its name from a reflection on fictional time and ephemerality. The studio creates modern “experiential spaces,” removing the barriers between technical expertise and creativity. It transforms spaces by offering a complete artistic service, ranging from architecture and spatial planning to design and visual identity.
Whether restaurants, apartments, or fashion shows, the spaces designed by Uchronia are imbued with a distinctive, contemporary identity.
