Big Bowl

Cast using the cire perdue, or lost wax, technique, each Big Bowl begins as a form modelled entirely by hand before being sent to the foundry for casting in bronze. The process yields a natural bronze surface offset by passages of black patina, and because every mould is destroyed in casting, no two bowls emerge quite identical. This is characteristic of Osanna Visconti’s practice: trained in jewellery making before turning to furnishings, she treats bronze at domestic scale with the same intimacy, spending her days at the foundry shaping wax by hand rather than working from drawings. The result sits comfortably as a centrepiece on a console or dining table, its irregular, tactile surface reading as sculpture as much as vessel — Roman in sensibility, indebted to the artists she grew up around.
