Background

Since its inception in 2009, Armadillo has remained true to its mission as a purpose-led business, dedicated to making a difference not only in the sanctuary of the home but in the world around us. The collection is handmade by true artisans, keeping an ancient lineage of craftsmanship alive. Each Armadillo rug is exquisite, exuding a nuance of colour, texture and composition that lends the brand’s range its breadth and timelessness. As the first Australian and American rug maker to achieve B Corp status, its founders, Jodie Fried and Sally Pottharst, practise ethical living in all they do. They hope to inspire a more natural pace of life with products that are kinder to the environment and strive to make a lasting impact on the lives of the next generation.

Signature Style

Armadillo’s philosophy of “Quiet Living” embraces the principles of slow design. The brand’s ethos is to create thoughtful and intuitive products that will satisfy real human needs and restore meaning to people’s lives. The rugs are crafted from carefully sourced natural materials in a completely handmade process that brings conscious living to the fore, helping us to simplify, slow down and engage more deeply with our spaces as they evolve alongside us.

Showstoppers

Promenades for barefoot luxury, Eden and Corsica are handcrafted using a traditional Indo Nepali weaving technique, then contemporised in colour and composition to venerate the home into a true escape. Hand-dyed New Zealand wool takes on a sophisticated form, with a rich hue and unique lustre from every angle that lends Eden its chameleon-like quality. With fibres so fine, it is lavishly soft to touch and a reverie to gaze upon. Restrained yet refined, Corsica’s linear texture rises and falls like the gentle sea, thanks to rows of solid-dyed, hand-spun New Zealand wool that are interspersed with the finest Belgian linen for a soothing shift in colour.
