Woven into every Malawi Rug is Armadillo’s commitment to slow design, a philosophy Fried and Pottharst built around fair wages, natural fibres and techniques handed down across generations of Indian weavers. Every stage, from dyeing and spinning to knotting and finishing, is completed entirely by hand, giving each rug the tactile, faintly irregular character the brand considers the mark of genuine craft rather than a flaw to be engineered away.

Rows of hand-knotted wool framed by a braided tasselled fringe give the Malawi Rug its blend of novelty and nostalgia, its ribbed pile forming an undulating canvas of painterly hues in Mushroom or Oatmeal. Delightfully soft and supple underfoot, it is designed to bloom and blend with time, softening further with every year of barefoot use.

Each rug is handcrafted by skilled artisans who master ancestral techniques such as hand knotting, weaving, and tufting. Due to its handmade nature, there may be slight variations in size and colour, and the patterns may adjust proportionally when the rug is scaled to different sizes. Colours are subject to sample approval and colours shown may vary with lighting and environment.
