The Palermo Rug carries the founding story of Armadillo, the Australian rug house started by Jodie Fried and Sally Pottharst after Fried chose to remain in India following the 2001 Gujarat earthquake to help artisan communities rebuild a sustainable livelihood. Armadillo has grown into one of the first B Corp certified rug brands in the world, built on the belief that beautiful things and ethical production are not a trade-off.

The Palermo Rug is gently dyed and hand-spun from a blend of linen and wool before being hand-knotted into a mesmerizing, cotton-warped pile that softens and grows silkier the more it is walked upon. Skilled artisans master the ancestral technique behind every knot, so that each Palermo carries slight, deliberate variations in colour and texture that no machine could replicate.

Each rug is handcrafted by skilled artisans who master ancestral techniques such as hand knotting, weaving, and tufting. Due to its handmade nature, there may be slight variations in size and colour, and the patterns may adjust proportionally when the rug is scaled to different sizes. Colours are subject to sample approval and colours shown may vary with lighting and environment.
