The Memorial Lounge Chair by Oscar Niemeyer is a special edition of the iconic “Alta” chair. This iteration, dedicated to “Memorial da América Latina”, was designed in 1980 with a different backrest from the original version. Niemeyer wanted it to be placed in front of “Agora”, an artwork by Brazilian artist Victor Arrudaon hanging in the foyer of the Museum’s auditorium. A terrible fire in 2013 destroyed part of this public collection. As the official partner of the Oscar Niemeyer Foundation, Etel has participated to the salvage of such important legacy by donating new chairs to the Museum Collection. To celebrate the partnership with the museum, Etel has released a Limited Edition of the “Alta Memorial Chair”.
