The Grand Oval Armchair by Leo Sentou reworks an oval bergere devised by Parisian master menuisier Louis Delanois, simplifying the medallion and arm bolsters of classical Louis XVI furniture into a calmer, more contemporary silhouette.
Upholstered here in Dedar’s Atlas Novus fabric in mohair with feet pictured in brushed blackened oak, also available in gauged bronze, the Grand Oval Armchair offers bespoke fabrics and finishes on request. What makes the piece so compelling is how the original medallion and arm bolsters of Louis XVI furniture have been simplified into soft, sculptural volumes rather than literal ornament.
Trained at the ENSAAMA Olivier de Serres School in Paris before moving to London to take a master’s degree at Central Saint Martins, Leo Sentou works on high end residential and hospitality projects honing his skills and sense for detail, whilst growing a strong passion for beautiful finishes. In 2021, Leo launched his first furniture line that encapsulates his love for noble materials and exceptional craftmanship.
