Background
Laurène Barbier Tardrew, an interior architect and designer trained at Penninghen, and Romain Jourdan, a scenographer and designer, met while working on their first project for a French luxury house — a collaboration they describe as “a true revelation.” Their partnership quickly proved fluid and effervescent, nourished by their complementary sensibilities. In 2013 they founded their interior architecture and design agency, Studioparisien. Together they develop expressive, elegant and contemporary spaces that highlight the excellence of French craftsmanship and reflect a singular language where refined aesthetics meet a form of precious brutalism.
Signature Style
“The tension of lines between angles and curves.” This principle lies at the heart of Studioparisien’s visual language, where soft geometries and sculptural volumes create balanced compositions. Driven by a taste for precious minimalism, their approach blends carefully selected materials whose textures and tones evoke a suggested, almost sensory nature. Their aim is to design tailor-made worlds and unique atmospheres, where materials, shapes and craftsmanship become the central narrative of each project.
Showstoppers
Close collaboration with exceptional craftsmen plays a defining role in the studio’s work. Through a continuous, generous and sensitive dialogue, Studioparisien and their collaborators constantly renew their creative language, developing bespoke furniture, lighting and spatial compositions designed for specific scenarios. Their Parisian spirit — combining understated timelessness, poetry and artisanal excellence — gives each project a distinctive sculptural presence. Inspired by Cartier’s iconic panther, the studio notably created a striking series of designs translating the animal’s elegance and strength into refined forms.
