The Manufacture de Tapis de Bourgogne has been weaving rugs in its Burgundy workshops since 1958, building a reputation among the world’s most demanding interior architects for its command of hand-knotting, hand-weaving and hand-tufting alike. Awarded the Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant distinction for living heritage, its artisans transform wool, silk, bamboo and raffia into rugs whose textures and patterns keep the visible imprint of the human hand.
For the À La Française collection, Studioparisien — the Le Marais agency behind luxury scenography for Cartier and Hermès — imagined a rug like a French formal garden caught in September, its topiary shapes chiselled from loops and tassels rather than clipped box hedges. Hand-tufted in wool and silk for the Manufacture de Tapis de Bourgogne, the velvet textures and sculpted tassels bring Laurène B. Tardrew and Romain Jourdan’s sense of graphic classicism, shaken up just enough to feel contemporary rather than nostalgic.
