Studioparisien is the Paris practice of Laurène B. Tardrew and Romain Jourdan, who built their reputation staging the retail worlds of Cartier, Hermès and Karl Lagerfeld before turning that scenographic eye toward furniture and lighting.
The Sévigné Chair completes the collection’s namesake trio, translating Madame de Sévigné’s spirit of gracious, attentive conversation into a single seat rather than a shared daybed. Studioparisien built the frame in plywood with beech reinforcements, keeping the silhouette light enough to be pulled easily to a table or into a corner for a private exchange.
Upholstered in Tibor’s Brecon fabric and finished with legs in oxidized black ash, the chair pairs a soft, tactile seat with a darker, grounded base, a contrast the studio uses to keep an otherwise gentle form from reading as purely decorative.
Laurène Barbier Tardrew, an interior architect and designer trained at Penninghen, and Romain Jourdan, a scenographer and designer, met while working on their first project for a French luxury house — a collaboration they describe as “a true revelation.” Their partnership quickly proved fluid and effervescent, nourished by their complementary sensibilities. Together they develop expressive, elegant and contemporary spaces that highlight the excellence of French craftsmanship and reflect a singular language where refined aesthetics meet a form of precious brutalism.
