Garcé & Dimofski, founded by Olivier Garcé and Clio Dimofski in Lisbon, is both a design studio and a gallery devoted to a singular, material-driven language. Every piece channels their belief in a quiet strength that transcends trends: raw chestnut, hand-glazed ceramic and terracotta, worked by local Portuguese artisans into forms that feel both ancient and entirely new.
Lacquered Chair I, the first in Minjae Kim’s series for Garcé & Dimofski Gallery, is hand-carved from Douglas fir and finished in a stained, high-lacquer coat that catches light along its sculpted curves. Because each chair is carved rather than moulded, its exact shape and colour will vary slightly from piece to piece, a variation the studio treats as a mark of authenticity rather than something to correct.
