The studio’s best-known creation, the Panther Sofa and Armchair, channels the panther motif that has defined Cartier’s jewelry house for nearly a century into upholstered form. Its Sévigné and Luco collections draw on literary and geographic Parisian references, the same instinct for storytelling carried into every material choice.
Studioparisien named the Luco collection after ‘le Luco,’ the affectionate nickname Left Bank Parisians have long used for the Jardin du Luxembourg, and the table’s high-gloss lacquer surface carries something of that garden’s polished, sun-caught basins. The Chromatic Ocher colourway gives the tabletop a warm, saturated depth that shifts with the light around it.
Laurène B. Tardrew and Romain Jourdan finish the piece with the same exacting attention they once gave to boutique display surfaces, where a lacquer finish has to read as flawless from every angle. The result is a table that behaves like a small reflecting pool, equally at ease as a side table or a compact dining surface.
