De La Espada

Refectory Extending Dining Table

Add to Wishlist

Long before ‘craft’ became a marketing word, De La Espada was quietly building furniture the hard way. Founded by Fátima de la Espada and Luís de Oliveira, the company grew out of a small family carpentry business in Spain into one of the most respected names in contemporary solid-wood furniture, collaborating over the years with Luca Nichetto, Neri & Hu, Jason Miller and Matthew Hilton. Every piece is still made at their own production facility on Portugal’s Silver Coast, in walnut, oak or ash, oiled and finished by hand.

Designed with Matthew Hilton, the Refectory extending dining table is shown in Danish oiled walnut, also available in ash or oak, its long, plank-like top nodding to the communal refectory tables the design takes its name from. Built to extend, it can grow from an everyday family size to a full banquet length when the occasion calls for it.
