Anut Cairo takes its name from Nut, the ancient Egyptian goddess of the sky who arches protectively over the earth, and builds an entire collection of table linens and pottery around Egypt’s living craft traditions rather than its postcard imagery. Founded by Goya Gallagher, the house works with artisans across the country – potters in the Fayoum oasis village of Tunis, weavers in Akhmim and Sohag, embroiderers trained at its own Cairo school – turning Egyptian cotton, linen and glazed earthenware into pieces that carry a specific place and a specific pair of hands. An embroidery school for women and an artist residency programme sit at the centre of the house’s mission, so that every napkin or plate also represents a livelihood.
The dinner-plate scale sibling of the Green Leaves Blue Dessert Plate, the Green Leaves Blue Dinner Plate carries the same vivid, complementary palette and leaf motif in hand-painted glazed earthenware from the Fayoum village of Tunis. Its bold colour and bold craftsmanship make it as much a statement piece as a functional one.
Founded by Goya Gallagher, ANUT draws its name from Nut, the ancient Egyptian goddess of the skies. This new lifestyle brand celebrates Egyptian heritage and craftsmanship, bringing the light, warmth, and magic of this unique country into homes around the world. At its core, ANUT is about people—fostering communities and engaging with local craftspeople, designers, and creatives. From their busy embroidery school, which enables women to learn a skill and work from home, to an Artist Residency programme that connects artists to a flourishing community of artisans working with ANUT, beautiful millennial crafts remain relevant in contemporary décor.
